Grover C. Abel was born in Leonard, North Dakota on August 10, 1891 the son of William and Lillian (Miller) Abel. He attended school in Leonard, North Dakota and on December 23, 1913 he married Helen Ziesemer at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Grover died at the Douglas County Hospital on August 18, 1978. Survivors are two brothers, William Abel of Hallock, Minnesota and Claude Abel of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, infant son, Grover; parents, one sister and four brothers.
Funeral services were August 21, 1978 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Pallbearers were Vernon Abel, Edlard Hertwig, Larry Diedrich, Melvin Millam, Boyd Millam, Everett Millam, and Alvin Lamprecht. Interment was at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Services directed by Alexandria Funeral Home.
