She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Wheelersburg, to the late Leo Anthony and Edith Ann Oakes Riepenhoff. Vera was retired from Mercy Hospital where she had worked as a registered nurse for 30 years. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church, a member of the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association and the Slocum Garden Club. Vera graduated from the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and had attended Ohio University and Ohio University Portsmouth.
Her husband, Paul Bennett Yeagle, whom she married in Wheelersburg on Sept. 8, 1951, preceded Vera in death Feb. 17, 1981. Surviving are her three sons; her daughter, of Columbus; two brothers; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Two sisters, Helen Otworth and Norma Riepenhoff, also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Church, with the Rev. Dwayne McNew officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be on Sunday at 7 p.m
