Gordon Albuagh

Gordon "Gordy" Albaugh. 69, of 332 Patty Lane, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at home, after being ill since June.

He was born March 22, 1935, in Warren, to the late Lester E. And Dorothy H. Lyle Albaugh. He was a resident of Warren until 1983, when he moved to Pittsfield. He was a 1954 graduate of Warren High School, and served as treasurer for their class reunions. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War. He was employed with the former National Forge Company as a marketing manager/salesman for 32 years, retiring from there in 1987. He did consulting work for the Erie National Forge Company for 5 years.

He was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church and was a church usher, eucharistic minister and a member of the care and concerns committee. He was on the Warren Knights of Columbus Council, and was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Warren Eagles Club, Yongsville American Legion Post and Warren Elks Lodge where he was a past exalted ruler.

He was an avid bowler and bowled on the former Forge Bowling League, Buck and Doe Bowling League and Tuesday morning Men's League. He was the original chairman of the Special Olympics Golf Tournament which he chaired for 13 years. He was an avid golf and was a member of the Blueberry Golf Course Senior League and Maplehurst Youngsville League. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Notre Dame football.

He was a volunteer with the Warren General Hospital where he installed "Life Line" phone equipment in private homes for the homebound for many years. He was a Treasurer of the Youngsville Boys Basketball Club and the Warren County Horseshoe League. He was currently a board member on the Area Agency board of directors. He was active in the Boy Scouts Troop 22 in Irvine. He was a lover of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Cosmano Albaugh, whom he married on Dec. 17, 1955, at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Warren; a son, Jeff R. Albaugh and his wife, Michele, Warren; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Albaugh Hollabaugh.

Friends will be received at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. A vigil service will be conducted there at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, by Fr. Miller, and members of the Warren Elks Lodge will conduct their funeral ritual at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m.

A con-celebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. William Miller, pastor, St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Youngsville, and Fr. Walter E. Packard, pastor, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mausoleum of the Ascension in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Warren County, St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Area Agency on Aging or Youngsville Boys Basketball Club.
