Franklin, March 7 - (Special) - Judson Calhoun Councill, 81, prominent citizen of Franklin, died at his home on Clay Street here tonight at 7 o'clock. He had been ill for several weeks. Mr. Councill was the son of the late Jesse D. and Antionette Simon Councill, of Isle of Wight County. He originally joined the Beaver Dam Baptist Church but on moving to Franklin many years ago moved his membership here. He was active in Sunday school work and was a charter member of the Bruner Bible Class.
Mr. Council is survived by his wife, Mrs. Inez Wills Councill; a son, James G. Councill, of Newport News; two granddaughters, Evangeline and Betty Molton Councill, of Staunton; a grandson, Oscar Watt Councill, of Bedford; four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Rawles, of Holland; Mrs. J.C. White, of Wakefield; Mrs. Fannie Garrett and Miss Birdie Councill, of Norfolk and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Franklin Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and the Rev. J.T. Bathkins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

Judson Calhoun Councill, 81, died at his home here last Friday night. He had been ill for several weeks. Mr. Councill was the son of the late Jesse D. and Mrs. Antoinette Simons Councill, of Isle of Wight County. He originally joined Beaver Dam Baptist Church but on coming to Franklin many years ago moved his membership here. He was active in Sunday school work and a charter member of the Bruner Bible Class.
Mr. Councill is survived by his wife, Mrs. Inez Wills Councill; a son, James Godwin Councill, of Newport News; two granddaughters, Evangeline and Betty Molton Councill, of Staunton; a grandson, Oscar Watt Gill, of Bedford; four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Rawls, of Holland; Mrs. J.C. White, of Wakefield; Mrs. Fannie Garrett and Miss Birdie Councill, of Norfolk and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at the Franklin Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. R. D. Stephenson of the local church, assisted by Rev. John P. Batkins, pastor of Beaver Dam Church. There were many lovely floral tributes.
The Active bearers were: L. Fleetwood, Robert O. Hayes, Felton Rawls, Dr. Irving Knight of Richmond, George Watkins, H.L. Westbrook, J.P. King and Herrick S. Massie of Richmond. Honorary bearers were the members of the Bruner Bible Class who attended in a body. Burial was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
