The father William was a blacksmith born in Indiana, Father born Rhode Island and Mother born Indiana. She had given birth to 10 children with 8 living.
When his father died in 1922 Rolland was not in the obit as a survivor. William was survived by two brothers and a grandson Fred Whipple.
