On Friday, the 2nd day of September, 1887, Mr Aaron Arnold, one of Camden's oldest citizens, bace a devoted wife and five loving children a final adieu and crossed ove the dark river. For four days the angel of death had hovered o'er the homestead, and despite the efforts of family and friends, on Friday morning between the hbours of 3 and 4 o'clock, crossed the threshold and claimed its victim and a devoted husband, a loving father and a good citizen was no more.
Mr Arnold was born in 1832; was married to Josephine Hawley in 1858, He moved to Camden in 1868, and has since that time been the proprietor of the Arnold House the leading hotel of the place. At the time of his death he was a member of the Knights of Honor.
His was indeed a life remarkable for kindness and honesty, and a case where charity required assistance never passed his door unrewarded. In kindness and devotion to his family he was surpassed my none.
Judge Arnold has been a prominent figure in the town and community for many years and he will be greatly missed by a large number of fiends. His death has cast a gloom over the place, shile overa once happy home a cloud has lowered blacker by far than "the funeral pall of a starless night." The profound sympathy of the whole community is extended to the sorrowing family.
