Thomas P Maddox was born April 17, 1856 in St. Clair County, Missouri and departed this life on August 26, 1942, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 19 days. In June 1880 he was married to Miss Amanda E. Black. To this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded him in death.
In 1904 the Maddox family came to Aztec where they lived since. During his early manhood Mr. Maddox was baptized in the Baptist Church and remained a life member. While living in Illinois in 1892 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge. After coming to Aztec he became publisher and editor of the San Juan Democrat, a crusading political publication which he published weekly for several years. Mr. Maddox leaves to mourn his departure his faithful and beloved wife and four sons, Robert and Charles of Aztec; Mark of El Paso, Texas; Frank of San Diego, Calif,; and three daughters, Mrs. Ben Lynch of Minturn, Colo.; Mrs. Virginia Durkhoop of Burbank, Calif.; and Mrs. Edith Bell of Burbank, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon and interment was made in Aztec Cemetery.
