Brooks Edward Haughton Flippen "Flip" was born May 20, 1924 in Dallas, TX and passed away peacefully on April 27, 2009 with his loving family by his side in San Rafael, CA. Brooks had an older brother Newt (deceased) and a younger sister Kay. He was buried at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery. He will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Cheryl Hansen, Debi Thomas and his grandchildren Wendy Souther, Michael Hansen and Michael Cox. He has four great grandchildren, Eli and Jessica Souther, Jack Hansen and Twocell Cox. He married Flora Maxine Coplin in Fort Worth on September 4, 1953 and later they moved to Silver Spring, MD; Philadelphia; and finally San Rafael, California in 1969. He attended Texas A&M for his bachelors degree and earned his masters degree in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was a nuclear engineer for Bechtel until he retired. One of his favorite things to do was travel and go on cruises. He did so most of his life with his wife of almost 50 years, Flora Maxine Flippen. He had a great sense of humor, loved his family, his dogs, and loved life itself.
