John W McDaniel, was born 1825 in Zebulon, Georgia. He then pioneered west to Townshp 13, R 6 E, Attalla County, Mississippi. He was on the Attala, Mississippi Cencus in 1850, then in 1852, he married Jane Cornelia McKinley and they took a wagontrain to Limestone County, Texas. He was one of the oldest settlers in Limestone county. They are shown on the 1860 Census in Limestone County, TX.
In 1862, John joined the Confederate Army, with the Eutaw Blues, Co.K, 20th Texas Calvary, Bass' Regiment. He survived the Civil War and returned home.
He died at the home of his son-in-law, Rodney F. Ayers, Thursday, October 22, 1896, of old age and a complication of diseases. He was laid to rest at Eutaw Cemetery with Masonic honors.
