Maxwell T. Mayne , 82, of 605 Ford Ave., died Sunday at his home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McLellan Funeral Home with the Rev. Ransom Hammond, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.

Surviving are a sister, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Carlton, died before him.

Born Feb. 20, 1911, in Peru, son of Arthur and Grace Stafford Mayne, he graduated from Lisbon High School in 1928 and from the University of Alabama in 1937 with a degree in engineering.

Mr. Mayne worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for four years and later joined his father's business, A.W. Mayne Co. The firm sold farm equipment in Lisbon for many years.

Mr. Mayne joined the accounting firm of Whalen, Davy & Looney in 1959. He retired in 1976.

He was a former member of Elks Lodge 772 and was an avid Alabama football fan.
