Ira Milton Sterner, Brodbecks: Ira Milton Sterner, husband of Mrs. Lydia (Baugher) Sterner, died at 1 p.m. August 27, 1953 at his home, Brodbecks, RD 1. Death was due to a lingering illness. He was 76 years, 1 month, 7 days old.
Mr. Sterner was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren, where he also served as a deacon. A farmer, he had resided in this area for the past 44 years. Surviving, besides his wife are; five children, Paul L. Sterner, Loganville; Mrs. Samuel K. (Mary) Sweitzer, of Glen Rock RD 3; Mabel V. Sterner and Noah L. Sterner, both at home; and Stewart W. Sterner, Myerstown, Pa. 10 grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Mummert, Hanover,; Mrs. Joanna Wherley, Spring Grove; Mrs. Eli (Ada) Saltzgiver, Smith's Station and Mrs. Isaac (Mary) Wherley, Hanover; and a brother, Alvin Sterner, Hanover. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with brief rites at Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock with concluding obsequies at Black Rock Church of the Brethren. Rev. Noah Sellers, pastor of the Black Rock Church and Rev. Joseph M. Baugher, pastor of New Freedom-Shrewsbury Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the Black Rock Church.
