Lillian E. Masters, 68, of 2605 Route 812, died early Tuesday at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Masters worked at Gouverneur Bank for four years as a bookkeeper and later worked in the payroll department at the Canton plant of Corning Glass Works, moving to the accounting department and then to the purchasing department. She worked for Corning for 24 years, from January 1967 to February 1991.

Born Feb. 10, 1935, in Morristown, daughter of George and Frances Waldo Bice, she graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1953 and attended Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute, majoring in accounting and data processing.

She married Kenneth S. Masters Jr. in January 1954 in Syracuse. She and her husband built their home in 1979.

She was a member of DePeyster Order of the Eastern Star, Kendrew Grange and National Grange and enjoyed quilting, handcrafts and traveling.

Surviving besides her husband are a son and his wife, a daughter, six sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, George "Gig" Bice, died in 1980.

A private graveside service will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
