Named as the son of George Fackler and Susan nee Fitting [sic-?] Fackler ; husband of Elizabeth L. nee Hoak Fackler.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg 13 March 1862, as a private with Co. B, 56th Pennsylvania Infantry. He re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer 17 March 1864, and honorably discharged with his company on 12 June 1865. According to his obituary, he took part in the first fighting during the Battle of Gettysburg.

He and his wife Elizabeth were the parents of these known children:
~ Infant daughter 1869-1869;
~ George A. Fackler 1870-1880;
~ Daniel R. Fackler 1871-1953 ;
~ Katie Fackler 7 July 1874 - ????,she was married to Samuel Smeltzer and the Informant on her Father's death certificate.

Benjamin was a member of Harrisburg's Hartranft Post No. 58, G.A.R., he died at his daughter Katie's home in Progress, Susquahanna Township,Dauphin County.
