Elizabeth was almost certainly the daughter of Charles and Sarah Leslie Lathan.
She was the mother of John G. Barton and most likely William Morrow Barton. Not knowing the date of her marriage and assuming that James Barton was not previously married, she was probably the mother of D.B. Barton as well.
Assuming birth dates of William and John are correct, there may have been at least one other child that died. There are two boys under 5 years old in the 1830 James Barton household (1830 Federal Census).

2. John Lathan - b: 1788. He married Agnes (Gettys?).
3. Elizabeth Lathan - Nancy Crockett of Lancaster had copies of receipts found in the Lathan family history dated July 30, 1825. One receipt was signed by James Lessley for work done on the plantation of Sarah Lathan "during her illness". A James Lessley was signed as a witness to a receipt signed by Elizabeth Lathan for attending and caring for Sarah Lathan at the same time.

Based on the receipt mentioned above, if Elizabeth was still single in 1825 and living with her parents, she was a bit older when she finally married sometime between 1825 and the early 1830s. Perhaps she was the daughter that stayed home to care for the parents and finally married once both had passed away. It seems she was between 35 and 40 years old when she married. This could also explain why she did not have a lot of children.

Thomas Faulkner married Margaret Barton. Thomas was the son of Mary Leslie and was Elizabeth Lathan's first cousin. Margaret Barton Faulkner was the daughter of Agnes Barton. She may also have been the sister (or another close relative of James M. Barton. Agnes Barton was the Barton woman from the Waxhaws who was living in Charleston when she nursed the dying Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson.
