Daniel Sydlik, a long time member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, passed away Tues. April 18, 2006. He was 87.

He was born Feb. 12, 1919 near Belleville, Michigan, and spent most of his early life on a farm near Caro,MI. Daniel Sydlik was baptized on July 28,1940 in symbol of his dedication to Jehovah God. He began serving as a pioneer minister in Sept. 1941. In Aug of 1946, he began serving at the world headquarters in Brooklyn,NY. His various assignments included working at the printery, radio station WBBR, and at the Writing Dept. He married Marina Hodson on June 27,1970, whom he described as "a God-sent support." Then, in November 1974, he was invited to serve on the Governing Body. Serving for over 31 years on the Governing Body, his duties took him to many different lands world wide where he delivered countless talks at conventions, branch offices, Assembly Hall and Kingdom Hall dedications. He constantly emphasized that true happiness is dependant, not on external factors, but on our relationship with our Creator and our attitude toward life.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Marina H. Sydlik and two sisters, Laura Spacil and Sally Szekely.

Memorial services were held April 24, 2006 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brooklyn, with Geoffrey Jackson, a fellow member of the Governing Body, officiating.
