Obituary.

Eleazer Crandall was born on March 5th, 1824, within about four miles of Dilsborough, Dearborn county, Indiana, and united in marriage with Minerva Jane Lacock, in Versailles, Indiana, on November 19th, 1846, and moved to Iowa in 1856, where they were identified with the Wesleyan Methodist church.

In the autumn of 1879 they moved to Rice county Kansas, and settled one mile north of Little River. Here at his residence, on March 28th, 1888, he died of heart disease. He survived the loss of his companion just two days and four hours, and died on the evening of her burial.

He was the father of ten children; nine of whom survive him. Brother Crandall was converted when about thirty years of age in the M. E. church. He firmly believed in the doctrine of Christian perfection. As Sister Crandall's funeral services were conducted by their pastor at the request of her bereaved husband, so likewise at the request of this doubly afflicted family, Rev. J. Carnaham, who has been intimately acquainted with them for years, was called to conduct the funeral services of their deceased father. The text chosen is to be found in Matthews, V. – S: "Blessed are the pure in hearth, for they shall see God." An instructive and searching sermon followed; such as Brother Carnaham generally preaches. A large number of mourning and sympathizing friends followed the remains to the burial.

"One by one, they cease their toiling,
For the Master here below;
By the angel hands attended,
To their endless rest they go,"
