Mrs. Bertha Anderson Is Buried in Kansas City

Mrs. Bertha Anderson, for many years a resident of Paola, died Saturday, February 21, 1942, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Cody, 30 South Mill Street, Kansas City, Kansas, where she had resided the past three months. Mrs. Anderson was the widow of the late C. J. Anderson and was in her 82d year, having been born Sept. 21, 1860, in Norway.

Surviving besides the daughter, Mrs. Cody, are two other daughters, Mrs. Nettie Poe, of Little Rock, and Mrs. Harriet Green, of 4035 Charlotte, Kansas City, Mo., and three sons, Lawrence Anderson, 104 South 25th Street, Kansas City, Kan., Frank Anderson, of Pittsburg, and Charles Anderson, who has lived with his mother in an apartment on the west side of the Square and is employed at the Jenkins grocery. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral rites were conducted Monday morning at 10:30 at the Butler funeral home in Kansas City, and interment was in the Woodlawn cemetery there.

Anderson - Mrs. Bertha Anderson, long-time resident of Paola, died Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 1942, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clara Cody, in Kansas City, Kan. She was in her 82nd year and had been in failing health for some time. Bertha Sorem was born in Norway, September 1, 1860, and came to this country with her parents when she was a baby. She was married to C. J. Anderson and early in their married life they came to Miami county, where they lived on a farm near Fontana. They moved to Paola more than 40 years ago. Mrs. Anderson and her son, Charles, who is employed at the Jenkins grocery, made their home in an apartment in the Wishopp building 16 years until Mrs. Anderson went to Kansas City last fall. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Cody, Mrs. Nettie Poe and Mrs. Harriet Green, all of Kansas City; three sons, Lawrence of Kansas City, Kan., Charles, of Paola, and Frank, of Pittsburg, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson was a loyal member of the Paola Baptist church for many years. Funeral services were Monday morning at the Joseph Butler's Sons chapel in Kansas City, Kan., and burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery.
