KOSCIUSKO [Attala Co., MS]—Bennett W. Alford, 79, retired Marine colonel after 32 years, died of cardiopulmonary arrest Tuesday [Jan 18] at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Funeral Home with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
He was a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and received the Victory Medal, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal.
Mr. Alford, the husband of Mavis Pickle Alford, also leaves a daughter, Cheri Alford Champagne of San Diego, and three grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Kosciusko First Baptist Church
