FLORENCE - Robert L. "Red" Stocker Sr., 77, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at his home in Florence, with family by his side.

He was born on February 18, 1932, in Montpelier, Vt., the son of Russell and Nancy (Johnson) Stocker.

He was formerly employed for many years by White Pigment Corp. in Florence and later by Gagnon's Lumber in Pittsford before retiring.

Red loved to play cards, and was well known for his sense of humor and willingness to lend a hand to whoever needed his help.

He is survived by one son, Robert Stocker Jr. of Florence; stepchildren, Lisa Lynch of Mount Holly and Eddy Lynch of Rutland; a grandson, Austin Stocker; a granddaughter, Arianna Stocker; three brothers, Alfred Stocker of Chester, Russell Stocker and Francis Stocker, both of Ludlow; two sisters, Betty Patt of Prospect, Conn., and Norma Martin of Ascutney; and close friends, Barbara Hewitt, Linda Poro, the Forrest family and the Eugair family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford, where friends may call from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.

Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
