She was a daughter of the late Edward W. and Ethel H. Harter.
Mrs. Ayer was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choir and active in many church activities.
A well loved Mother, Granny, sister, aunt and friend, she single handedly raised her two daughters. She was their mother and father and will be greatly missed. Her passion in life was her three grandsons in which she adored and loved to keep them on a regular basis when they were small. Terry loved traveling on her senior trips and watching birds come to her bird feeder.
Terry was the widow of the late Francis "Sonny" Ayer. She loved and was loved by her surviving family: two daughters, Juanita Chavis Hiatt and husband Ken of Allendale and Francina Chavis Michum and husband Scott of Barnwell; grandsons, Harold Timothy Crim Jr., Staff Sergeant James Michael "Jamie" Morris and wife Kimberly and William Simms Morris; her precious great-granddaughter Kaylee McKenzie; one sister Irene H. Ingram of Auburndale, FL; one brother William Clyde "Bill" Harter of Fairfax; one brother-in-law, John Gary Driggers of Fairfax; her children by marriage: Kurt and Lisa Ayer of Bamberg, Gay and Tommie Deer of Fairfax, Joy and Greg Smith Melbourne, FL and Dean and Kathy Ayer of Ehrhardt.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved son James Forest "Jimmy" Chavis, Jr.; sisters, Sandra "Nook" Driggers, Kathryn "Dock" Carter and Shirley H. Lyons; brothers, Maxwell "Mack" Harter and Eddie C. Harter.
Interment was in Bethel Cemetery.
