Leland Elbert Machen, 87, passed away September 16, 2018, in San Antonio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Milford. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro

Leland was born on August 14, 1931, in Pluto, Texas, to James Lois and Lera Loletta (Knott) Machen. After graduating from Milford High School, he was drafted into the Army in November of 1953 and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He diligently served our country until the war was over. Upon returning home, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a core driller, working at various sites around the country for Joy Manufacturing. He retired in the early 80’s and returned home to Milford. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milford.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Lois Onetta Sutton, and her husband, Charles.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis James Machen and Kristi Fordtran-Lohner, Bobby Marcellus Machen and wife, Julie Machen; sister, Joye Loretta Hardaway and husband, Norbert; grandsons, Christopher and wife, Elizabeth, Kevin, Derek and Justin; great-grandson, Landon; great- granddaughter-to-be, Chloe; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
