Sheldon L. "Charlie" Flowers, 59, of Hortense, GA, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, after an extended illness. The Brantley Co., GA, native was a member of the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy, owner of Flowers & Sons Logging, & a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving in Vietnam.
Survivors are his wife of 39 years: Shirley White Flowers of Hortense, GA, 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Rocky & Timeka Flowers, Damon & Tammy Flowers, both of Hortense, GA, his mother: Onie Sloan Flowers of Hortense, GA, 3 sisters: Pat Oglesby of Hortense, GA, Frances Manners of Columbia, SC, Lillian Roberson of Milledgeville, GA, 6 brothers: Ronald Flowers & Howard Flowers, both of Brunswick, GA, Elbert Flowers, Lloyd Flowers, Ross Flowers, Wendell Flowers, all of Hortense, GA, 7 grandchildren: Charlie Flowers, Mersadees Flowers, Roxie Flowers, Rocky Flowers, Jr., John King, Rebekah King, & Carolina Henry, several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Friday, May 29, 2009, from the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Ricky Knox & Rev. Henry Grimes officiating. Interment will be in the Hortense Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Chris Flowers, Cale Flowers, Jason Flowers, Chris Boyd, Kevin Davison, & Brent Oglesby.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 P. M. Thursday from the funeral home.
