Born in Gotha, Germany, Rudy lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., Scotrun, and Florham Park, N.J., before moving to Morris Township, N.J., six months ago. Rudy worked at Flatbush Pontiac in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 23 years, before retiring in 1978. More recently, he worked in the Maintenance Department at Monsignor McHugh School in Cresco. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Convent Station, N.J. He also served as a volunteer at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, as well as in The Red Cross.
Rudy is survived by his daughter, Gladys Sullivan and her husband, Thomas, of Pennsylvania; his son, Robert Amling and his wife, Isabel, of New York; his six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rudy is predeceased by his wife, Gladys (1991); and his two brothers.
A funeral mass for Rudy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18, at St. Thomas More Church, Convent Station, N.J. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Visiting will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rudy can be made to Missionary Society of St. Columban, P.O. Box 10, St. Columbans, NE 68056, or the Pocono Medical Center, 206 East Brown St., East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
