Paul was the fifth son born to Bob & Ima Johnson, he was born on the family farm in Wesley Chapel, graduated from Latexo High School, he served in the Air Force and Army, World War II and the Korean War.

He returned home and worked for Western Electric in Houston, where he designed one of the controls for NASA during the early 60's. Paul also designed and made the controls for President Lyndon Johnson's plane. After he retired, he returned to the family farm, where he lived with his youngest sister, Henrietta, until his death.

He was a handsome young man, but never married. Paul was a member of the Church of God.

Mr. William Paul Johnson, age 74 of Wesley Chapel, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2004 in the east TX Medical Center-Tyler. Mr. Johnson was born September 15, 1928 in Wesley Chapel and had lived in Houston County most of his lifetime. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force having served during World War II. Mr. Johnson was a member of the American Legion Brailsford English Post #134 and was also a member of the Church of God. Mr. Johnson was retired from Western Electric where he worked as a switch board technician.
Survivors include his brothers Edgar F. Johnson and wife Lequanna and Durwood Johnson and wife Patsy, all of Wesley Chapel; sister Henrietta McFall, of Wesley Chapel; sister-in-law Hazel Johnson, of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Bob and Ima Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law Frank John and wife Lucille, Robert "Dude" Johnson and Tommie Johnson and wife Dylis; and sisters and brothers-in-law Maude Gossett and husband Luther and Lena Pearl Owen and husband John.
Funeral services for Mr. William Paul Johnson were held Sunday, August 15, at 4:30 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
