Sharp, Rex P. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Luther Manor. Age 87 years. The son of the late Bessie and Daniel Sharp was born September 3, 1921 in Neosho, Missouri. He married Dorothy L. Grubbs, October 5, 1945. She survives him. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was employed as a mechanic for fourteen years and then by General Motors, Delco Moraine Div. (Delphi) retiring with 29 .5 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. Surviving besides his wife, (Dorothy) are three daughters and their spouses: Phylis Isanhart, Betty and Gary Neilan, Carolyn and John Hartnagle; five grandchildren: Brock and Jamie Isanhart, Jamie and John Slot, Monica Kapp, John Hartnagle II, Libby Isanhart; his first great granddaughter, Avery Mae Isanhart will arrive in August 2009; two sisters, Velta Smith and Barbara Moore; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Joshua Kapp and infant baby Neilan; three brothers: Lawrence, Leon and Daniel Sharp. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at First Baptist Church, 1926 Fairfield St. His son-in-law, Rev. Gary Neilan and Rev. Dan Miller will officiate with Military burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service. Rex served as an aerial gunner on a B17 in Europe during WWII. After many bombing missions over Europe,his plane was shot down, and he spent many months as a prisoner of war, until liberation at the end of the war.
