Mrs. Velmar Osa Austin, 87, of Memphis, formerly of Henderson, died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Leon Johnson & Son Funeral Home of Henderson with burial in Unity Cemetery near Henderson. The widow of Homer F. Austin, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Faye Day, and three sons, Cletus O. Austin, Eual R. Austin, and Max R. Austin, all of Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Nillie Jones of Jackson, 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN, on May 6, 1989)
