David L. Evans, age 67 years, died suddenly Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Chicago he moved to Joliet and attended Grade School and JTHS ("1960"), attended U of I graduating from Depaul. A retired accountant with Comm. Edison. A member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. As a civic leader he serviced as member of the Grade School Board for over 30 years, a Board Member of Guardian Angel Home, The Unity Community Development Corp., and most recently as a representative of Will County Board Dist. 8, and Chairman and Co-Founder of Black Pride Parade, Coordinator for Will County Primary and General Election Get-Out-To-Vote.
David is survived by his wife, Rosie; four children, Debra L. Payton of Wheaton, Cathe R (Daniel) Evans of South Holland, David M. Evans and Shellye N. Evans both of Las Vegas; one step-daughter, Dana (Carlos) Matlock of Joliet; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.
