COVEY, David Garland, 84, of Route 1, (Mt. View Community) Dublin, and 2505 Rutrough Road, S.E., Roanoke, passed away Monday, October 28, 1996, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. He was born February 18, 1912 in Pulaski County. He was the son of the late David Sperry Covey and Bessie Farmer Covey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margie Kathleen Bivins Covey; and a brother, Cula Edward Covey. He was retired from the Appalachian Electric Power Co. with approximately 35 years of service. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Covey Hodge and Lynn Hodge, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Amy Lynne Hodge and April Lea Hodge, Roanoke; three sisters, Edna Elizabeth Phillips, Dublin, Mary Kathleen Rutherford, Fairlawn, Virginia Estelle Atkins, Dublin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m., at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Charles "Al" Echols officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski. Memorials may be sent to the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 3000 Pitzer Road, S.E., Roanoke, Va. the Newbern Fire Dept., P.O. Box 328, Newbern, Va. or the charity of your choice. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, is in charge of the arrangements.
