Frances and Walter John Affeldt were married December 31, 1924. They were the parents of seven children. The family lived in Ida Township until 1940 when they moved to Alexandria.
Walter died in 1969 and Frances continued to make her home in Alexandria until becoming a resident of Knute Nelson Memorial Home in 1990.
Frances loved caring for her home, family and pets. She especially enjoyed working in her garden and doing handwork projects.
Frances died May 9, 1999 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home. She was 96 years of age, in addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; two daughters: DeLette (Joey) Patrick and Maedeen Jobe; three grandchildren; Marla Marie Patrick, Karen Frances Braaten and Russell Pantlin; and one great grandson, Brandon McGregor.
Surviving Frances are her children; Roger and wife Caroline Affeldt of Alexandria; Marlin (Bod) Affeldt of Fargo, ND; Wanda and husband Odell Braaten of Glenwood; DeLoyce (Dee) Novak of Garfield; Ardys and husband Phil Pantlin of Cannon City, CO; 33 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held May 12, 1999 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Erickson officiating. Interment followed in Kinkead Cemetery with Kathy Zimmerman, Keyes Burgess, Rodney Jobe, Lori Lehn, Shari Sather, Tom Torstenson, Brent Affeldt and Royce Braaten serving as pallbearers. Her other grandchildren were named honorary pallbearers
