Frances E. Gerszewski, age 82 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Center of Larimore, ND after a battle with cancer.

Frances Elizabeth Lizakowski was born May 31, 1938 to Frank and Helen (Stoltman) Lizakowski of Minto, ND. She was the second of six children and attended and graduated from school in Minto, ND. She enjoyed reading, piano, was in the high school band and liked to write for the school newspaper. She helped her father do the books for Super Service in Minto. Frances married Adrian A. Gerszewski of rural Grafton on Jan. 3, 1957 in Minto, ND. The couple made their home on the Gerszewski family farm. Together they farmed and raised three children. She was involved in 4-H when the kids were members. They hosted several Foreign Exchange Farm Trainees from Denmark, Sweden and Holland in the late 70's through the 80's, so they could experience farming in the US before they received their farming degrees. Adrian passed away at the age of 49 in the spring of 1986. Frances continued to farm with her three children until she retired. She moved to Grand Forks in 2005.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Grafton and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. She enjoyed working part-time at banquets at the Westward Ho with her friend Betty Wylot. Frances enjoyed traveling across the US with her friends. A trip to Arizona to see her friend Connie French, nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives in that area was a must in the winter months. She also traveled to Mexico, Canada, Russia, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden and Denmark.
Frances is survived by her three children: Jeannette (David) Shambaugh, Arnold (Janet) Gerszewski, Matthew (Jody) Gerszewski, all of Grafton, ND; seven grandchildren: Heather (Dave) Szklarski, Jessica (Gabe Haaland) Shambaugh, Jon (Seri) Gerszewski, Brandon (Katie) Gerszewski, Alyssa Gerszewski, Ben Gerszewski, and Kate Gerszewski; nine great grandchildren: Eva Marie, Owen Adrian, Ruby Kate, Nora Claire, Adrienne Elise, Hailie Grace, Sophie Marie, Kai Gabriel, Ellianna Anne and Andrew Arnold; sisters: Clara Wysocki, Grand Forks, ND; Marianne (Don) Rudnik, Minto, ND; brother, David (Karen) Lizakowski, IA.
