Born in Plymouth, the son of the late Manuel and the late Mary (Ferriero) Aguiar, he grew up in the town and lived in New Bedford since 1934.
Mr. Aguiar was in the Coast Guard Reserve and worked construction for many years. He was a member of the Local Construction Workers Union #1305 of Fall River.
He is survived by a daughter, Joan M. Fournier of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Richard Fournier and Donna Travers both of New Bedford and two great-grandchildren, Alex Travers and Sydney Fournier both of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Aguiar was the brother of the late Manuel and John Aguiar, Anna Silva and Alice Botelho.
His funeral service will be Monday, May 18, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
