Mrs. Anita Lara Alvarez passed away in her Norman home on May 8, 2009
Mrs. Alvarez was born in McAllen, Texas on June 26, 1916 to Camila Uvalle and Margarito
Lara. On April 8, 1934 she married Dolores I. Alvarez in Donna, Texas. They were married for 58
years. They had eight children - seven daughters and one son.
Mrs. Alvarez was a homemaker all her life. She was a fantastic cook. Her family, as well
as her many friends and acquaintances will miss her delicious homemade tamales.
Preceding her in death were her husband Dolores, infant daughter Francisca, and daughter
Dolores Cedergren. She is survived by their son Rodrigo Alvarez of Lawton, Michigan and by
daughters Paula and Nelida Alvarez of the home, Luvina Matyas of PawPaw, Michigan, Lourdes
Sever and Hilda Kirby-Byrd of Norman, Oklahoma.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Rodrigo Jr. And Ramiro Alvarez, Laura Cedergren,
Anne Healey, Estrella, Alana and Manrique Matyas; Kristina and Cecelia Sever and Angela Wright;
four great grandchildren; Tyler Alvarez, Jacqueline and Bentley Wright, and Cora Healey. She also
had numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. Joseph's Chapel
with Father Ray Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in
Norman, Oklahoma Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
Oklahoma.
