She was the daughter of John K. Norris and Mary Jane Saunders. She married Jackson Hurst on December 27, 1866 in Buchanan County, Missouri (probably in Rush Twp.)
Victoria was expecting a child when her husband, Jackson Hurst, was involved in an altercation that got out of hand. He died of his injuries, as did his brother, Sinclair Hurst, on February 2, 1870. An inquest was held and a trial was brought against Claiborne Jones in May of 1871. There was some controversy in that, the State felt there may have been some conspiracy among several involved in the altercation to coordinate their stories of what happened. A jury deliberated for twenty minutes and found Claiborne Jones not guilty on the charges of second degree murder. By this time, Victoria had a seven month old baby girl by the name of Leona. Leona died a few months before her 11th birthday in 1881.
In 1873, Victoria married Fielding Henry Jones, the widower of her sister-in-law Celia Hurst Jones. Celia had died in 1872, leaving two young daughters, Viola and Minnie. Victoria and Fielding would have at least two more children, Mary Elizabeth, and Janett. Mary Elizabeth grew up, married, and had a family of her own and died at the age of 88. Although Janett is listed as a one-year old in the Kapioma, Atchison Co., Kans. 1885 Census, there is no other record to be found of her. Victoria died in September 1885 at age 39 of an unknown cause.
