Mrs Sue McGowan-Adams, 48, who was born and reared near Quitman MS, died in a Meredian Hospital last Sunday as a
result of burns received when her clothing ignited when she was standing before an open fire. Tragedy occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs Robert Land, in Melvin, where she was visiting. She was the widow of Mr Horace Adams. Survivors: three sons, James Adams, Los Angeles CA; Jack and William Adams, Quitman; three sisters, Mesdames Land, Melvin; Gerald Rentz, Gilbertown AL; William Moore, Quitman; four brothers, Hamilton McGowan, Ocean Springs; Talmadge McGowan, AZ; Evans and Douglas, Quitman; mother, Mrs J.H. McGowan. Funeral services conducted by Rev W.C.M. Gaggett, pastor of local church, assisted by Rev W. L. Meadows, pastor of Quitman Baptist Church. McClellan Funeral Home in charge.
