HESCH -- Isabel Gonzales died peacefully at her home in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, on Saturday morning, September 10, 2005 at the age of 109. A precious one from us has gone A voice we love is stilled A place is vacant in our home which can never be filled. Isabel was born in San Antonio/Macho, NM on October 31, 1895 and lived most of her life in Santa Fe. She is survived by her daughter, Lena Mares Avila and granddaughter, Lucy Evans Gray of the family home; her son, Eddie Mares of Albuquerque; nine other grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren. She survived her first born sons, William Mares. There are hundreds if relatives throughout the nation as she was the one of 14 children, and the last one to die. A History of the Gonzales Family, compiled by a favorite grand-niece, Victoria Gonzales, was published this year, which chronicles this extensive and varied family. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2005 at 9 a.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 4 the St. NW at Alameda in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, with a reception to follow at the Church hall. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony's El Macho Maintenance Fund, HC 74, Box 23, Pecos, NM 87552 or to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Building Fund, 9502 4 the St. NW, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM 87114.
