Lamell Ellsworth died April 30, 2005.

Lamell referred to as "The Legend" was born Feb. 25 1933 into a pioneer family that helped settle Show Low. Lamell was the fifth child of Blanche and Whittie Ellsworth. He was born and raised in Show Low. Lamell was a great outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. Lamell accomplished the rare feat of acquiring the "Big Ten" game trophies by the age of 27. He completed the list in 10 years and bagged both the lion and bear without the use of dogs or guides. His greatest challenge was taking a lion "It was the hardest to get, I laid out three nights in six inches of snow waiting for a killer lion to return to a colt. The third morning at day break the big cat came to the kill." Next to the lion he placed the desert big horn sheep as being the smartest and hardest animal to hunt.
Lamell was a kind and gentle man. He had great affection for all he came in contact with. He was a wonderful storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a meat cutter at Nicks market, and worked for S.R.P. for many years. He enjoyed many years of the antler trade business, with members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. They will remember his generosity in giving a little extra "ice cream and gas" money, especially to the children. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Pamela Pavelin Ellsworth, his sons Glen Edward Ellsworth(Mesa) Ron Robert Ellsworth (Visalia, California), step children Gina and Perry Aller (Lakeside), Rex Gillespie (Queen Creek), Shawnah and Derek Wilcock (Mesa) and 11 grand children. Brother, Pete and Betty Jo Ellsworth (Show Low), Sister, Zola Rova (Show Low), and special cousin, Elrowe Ellsworth (Show Low).
A visitation was held Wednesday, May 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Show Low First Ward, at the Downtown chapel Thursday May 5. A grave side dedication immediately followed at the Show Low Cemetery.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
