Bert Abernathy, age 59 years, filling station proprietor, died Monday morning at 12:30 o'clock at his home in East Second street, He had been ill for the past five weeks and a complication of diseases was the cause of his death.
Mr. Abernathy was born In Rush county and lived all his life here. He was one of the pioneer motormen on the I. and C. traction line. For the past few years he had been proprietor of the Abernathy Gulf Filling Station In East Second street, just east of the mill race. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.
The deceased was married to Stella Shafer of Henry County, who preceded him in death eight years ago. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Loretta Abernathy and Mrs. Wlllodean Strimple at home; and one sister, Mrs. Ora Slier of Carthage.
Funeral services wl!l be held at late residence Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. C. A. Shake officiating, and Interment will be made In East Hill cemetery. The Eagles lodge will have charge of the services.
