For nearly a year little Kayleigh's loving parents have shared the story of their miracle baby with the world through her blog.

Prayer "warriors" from around the world have joined forces to show their love and support not only for this little girl but for little children everywhere who may be born a little too early or with special problems.

Kayleigh's obituary was published in the "Charlotte Observer" on 15 May 2009:

"Kayleigh Ann Freeman

Kayleigh, our one pound miracle from God, went to Heaven on May 11, 2009. She was born June 23, 2008 at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. For over ten months, Kayleigh was taken care of and considered family by some of the most amazing doctors and nurses at Levine Children's Hospital.

Kayleigh is survived by her parents, Adam and Aimee Freeman, her bigger sister and brother, Allyson and Brandon Sundblade, and her proud grandparents, Gary and Patricia Freeman, and Terry and Joyce Rogers. However, family and prayer warriors from across the globe considered Kayleigh as their own and feel a tremendous loss.

Kayleigh was born 3 months early against all odds. She weighed only 1 pound - 1 ounce at birth and was only 10.5 inches long. She fought amazing triumphs and won many tough battles, such as being one of the smallest babies to ever undergo open heart surgery. She was so close to coming home to the pink and brown bedroom her parents had prepared for her, but our Lord had different plans.

Through her blog she touched millions and showed us all the true meaning of Faith, Hope and Love. Kayleigh's story will continue to change lives forever as God's plan for her will never be finished, even though she is now smiling in Heaven, right by His side. Kayleigh, a miracle to all of us, will be surely missed, but this is only goodbye...for now.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Kayleigh at McEwen Funeral Services, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 on Sunday May 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Levine Children's Hospital NICU located at 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203."
