Aunt Nettie was born in Spears Chapel, a few miles southeast of Burkeville, the fourth child of William Madison and Hester Ann McMahon Hall. She married John Oscar Marshall on January 2, 1890. To this union five children were born. They are: Hazel M. Crawford, Mary Hester Marshall Barron, Willie Helen Marshall, M. Klein Marshall and Londell I. Marshall.
Her home was located where the Newton County News sits today.
