Son of Joseph & Mary Hall
His father died when he was 9 years old & the family then came to Zanesville, OH.

1st wife: Married Elizabeth on 1/13/1825 in Muskingum County, OH
Son: Lewis

2nd wife: married Catherine Faucher on 8-3-1881 in Tazewell County, IL
She passed away here in 1889

In 1819 he decided to seek religion & he asked for a license to preach and was granted such on 10/30/1830. He was a Methodist Minister. In 1832 he joined the Illinois Conference & was sent to the Peoria mission. From there he preached in Pattonsburg, Pekin, Hennepin, Bloomington, Brimfield, Lacon, Washington, Aurora, and went on to other towns all over IL. He was also one of the first settlers in Germantown Hills, Il in 1833.
Woodford County history states Rev. Hall proclaimed the word of God throughout central IL for more than 40 years.

From 1863 - 1878 he was a trustee for Illinois Wesleyan University.

When Catherine died in 1889 he went to live with his son in Kansas where he was at the time of his passing. He stood 5' 10" tall.
