Mrs. Dave Askren, mother of Virgil Askren of this city, passed away at five o'clock Saturday afternoon at her home in Soldier. She had been ill the past year with leakage of the heart. Mrs. Askren was 55 years old July 3rd. She spent most of her life in the vicinity of Soldier and Circleville. The family lived in Seneca about eight years ago and Mr. Askren was employed at the Northwestern Round house. Since moving from Seneca they have made their home in Soldier. Besides the husband, three sons and one daughter survive. They are Ernest, Codell, Kansas; Lee, Gower, Mo.; and Virgil, Seneca and Mrs. Verne Pasy, Soldier. Mrs. Pasy has lived at the home of her parents the past few months and cared for her mother. There are 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Methodist church in Soldier and interment was made in the Soldier cemetery. Mrs. Askren was a kind and loving mother and a good wife. She was a member of the Methodist church and held true to that faith until her death.
