Obituary of Sister Malesia J. Webb, taken from the Fellowship Church Records as written by Elder J. P. Goad.

Malesia J. Webb, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Martin was born Feb. 20,1834 and was married to Elder Isaac Webb on 17 June 1852. She professed a hope in Christ and with Elder Webb joined the church at Fellowship in 1857 in which they faithfully lived. She made a great sacrifice of her life in holding out a helping hand to her family, church and the needy, struggling hard through trials of the Civil War to keep food and raiment for the little ones, praying for her husband's return to them and his country, which by the grace of God was granted. Her suffering was intense for five months with heart dropsey, during which time she talked much of her future home and on the bright Sabbath morning 17 October 1926 she reached forth and called "Come here Mother, I am going to sleep". (Her Mother having been dead for 30 years) and passed away with a calm and peaceful resignation at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, John A. and Octavia J. Goad where she had been well cared for the several last years of her life. On the 18th of October 1926 her body was buried at the old home place, the writer conducting the funeral service in the presence of a large concourse of people. Her only living brother and sister being present. Deacon Charles Martin, aged 95 and Annora C. Gardner, aged 30 together with all her living children, Elder D. Smith Webb, aged 72, Hon. M. Price Webb, Deacon David M. Webb, Ruth A.E. Jennings, Octavia J. Goad and Judith E. Worrell. The dead are Lucetta C. Vass, George W. Webb and Mary C. Horton. All of her nine children except one, belonged to the Primitive Baptist Church. She leaves to mourn her loss 9 children, 85 grand children, 222 Great Grand Children and 31 Great Great Grand Children. In Elder Webb's Autobiography he writes, thy family in home affairs have often been left in the care of my wife who looked well to the ways of our household, and ate not the bread of idleness etc. She bore a good name, which is rather to be chosen than great riches.
