Hydeville - Mary Ellen Campen, 84, died June 5, 2006, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland, after a long illness.
She was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Hickman Neb., the daughter of John Ernest Martin and Rose Addie (Kiechel) Martin.
She was a graduate of Johnson High School in Johnson, Neb., with the class of 1939. She received her junior elementary teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1941.
In 1942 she married George Louis Campen in Johnson, Neb. He predeceased her in 1995.
Mrs. Campen taught school in Brownsville, Neb.
She and her husband lived in the Denver, Colo., area where they were active supporters of the local Republican Party. Mrs. Campen enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her children, Mary Debruyckere of Denver, Colo., Jane McMillen of Castleton and George Campen of Puyallup, Wash.; a sister, Erma Becker of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by a son,, Bill Campen, in 1986, five sisters, Catherine Martin, Ruth Runyon, Vera Shaw, Lois Loafea and Marilyn O'Driscoll; and a brother, John Martin.
The graveside service will be conducted in Nebraska at the convenience of her family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Durfee Funeral Home of Fair Haven.
