Obituary: Ida Louise Kite, age 90, of Shenandoah, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Kite was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Stanley, Va., and was the daughter of the late Grover and Valley (Bushong) Koontz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irby Eunice Kite, one daughter, Wanda Ellen Kite Alexander, two brothers, Randolph and Richard Koontz and one sister, Jeanette Koontz Short.
Louise was a charter member of the Grove Hill Friendship Club and was a beloved member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. She also loved to garden and to entertain family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Kite and his wife, Patricia, of Shenandoah; three daughters, Jane Lee Kite Doss of Daleville, Barbara Ann Kite Pullen and her husband, Bryan, of Shenandoah, Diana Lynn Kite Waag and her husband, David, of Berryville; one brother, Isaac Koontz and his wife, Beth, of Richmond; one sister, Elizabeth Koontz Howerton of Statesville, N.C. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott, Tara, Eric, Deanne, Jason and five great-grandchildren, Kristen, Emily, Autumn, Taylor and Caleb.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dottie Nimal at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shenandoah on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. The burial will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.
