He bought the Ford garage in Clear Lake in 1955 and then sold it in 1960. He then managed the municipal liquor store in Clear Lake until 1962 when he started Tupa Motors.
He retired in 1965 and after his retirement he worked as a maintenance person for the Good Samaritan Center.
He was amember of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a former fire chief of the Clear Lake Fire Dept., was a former alderman and mayor of Clear Lake and was a past prresident of the Deuel County Fair Board.
He had two sons: William of Aberdeen and Daniel of Brookings.
