Dewey D Altman City Fireman for 31 years Dies

Dewey D Altman 61 Georgetown City fireman died Monday in Georgetown County Memorial Hospital after an illness of eight hours.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev J Henry Kohler pastor of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr Altman was born in Georgetown County Sept 15 1899 son of the late Samuel Wesley and Sarah Rawls Altman. He was educated at Old Union High School and worked for sometime with the US Engineers and later with old Tyson Lumber Co. For 31 years he had been a fireman with the City of Georgetown.

Mr Altman was widely known for his ability as a salt water fisherman and operated a charter boat in his spare time.

He was a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church.

Surviving are the widow the former Miss Anna Cribb a brother J Manning Altman of Mt Pleasant two sisters Mrs W E Haselden of Hemingway and Mrs L T Sessions of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews.
