Monroe Bradshaw moved from North Carolina to Harris County, GA with his family prior to 1828 and married Nancy Caroline Milner there in 1843. He was 25 and she was 17. They had ten children, all born in Harris County and then moved to Randolph County, Alabama prior to 1880 where they settled on approximately 241 acres in the extreme southeast corner of the county near the community of Bacon Level.
He was living in Harris Co., Ga, age 42, married with seven children, when the Confederate States of America were formed in Montgomery, AL on 18 Feb 1861. From what I have found, he was never in the Confederate Army or Navy, but instead enlisted three times in the Georgia Militia or "State Guards" where it was common for terms of service to be of less than a year duration.
(Monroe's and Caroline's markers were replaced in 2007 and the original ones laid on the graves.)
Other children, any information appreciated:
Amanda Bradshaw (Abt 1844 - )
James M. Bradshaw (Abt 1853- )
Benamin Franklin Bradshaw (1860-Abt 1892)
m. Lula Bunch, b. 1862.
Caroline Bradshaw (Abt 1863- )
