Professional Baseball Player. He was a first baseman for eight different teams in the major leagues over the span of twelve years. He played with the Boston Red Sox (1935 to 1936), New York Yankees (1937 to 1940), Boston Braves (1941), Chicago Cubs (1941 to 1942), St. Louis Browns (1942, 1946), Brooklyn Dodgers (1942), Philadelphia Phillies (1943), and Pittsburgh Pirates (1944 to 1945). In 1943 he played on the National League All-Star team. Over the course of his career, he batted .261, hit 82 home runs and batted in 569 runs.
