Calvin Jernigan was enrolled on 8 March 1862 as a Private, in Reubin
J. Cooper's Company G, 33rd Regiment, Alabama Infantry, organized at
Pensacola, Florida. It's members were raised in Coffee, Butler, Dale,
Montgomery and Covington Counties, Alabama.

Calvin Jernigan was born February 1837 in Dale County, Alabama, and
died 18 Aug 1908 in Shelby Co., Texas, the youngest child of Daniel
and Nancy Jernigan. Calvin and his wife, Susan Bardin, and their
children left Alabama around 1885 and settled in Shelby County, Texas.
Their children were William David Jernigan (Dave), Harriet Jernigan,
John Jernigan (John was married and stayed in Alabama), Daniel Woodard
Jernigan (Bob), Mattie Martha Jernigan (Matt), Elisha Joseph Jernigan
(Bud), Susan Ila Jernigan, Fern Jernigan, Antoinette Jernigan (Nette),
and Charles Griffin Jernigan (Griff), and from these children spawned
the many generations of the Jernigan, Irish, Myrick, Russell, Hughes,
and Richards families, and other's, in and around East Texas and other
places.
