CHRIS ABERLE DIES
Chris Aberle, one of the early settlers and pioneer businessmen of this city, died at his home in this city last Sunday about midnight at the age of 73 years about. (Alexandria)
Mr. Aberle was ill only a short time, having been taken sick with the la-grippe about a week before his death. His condition did not become alarming until Saturday at which time he began to sink fast. Due to his advanced age he was unable to combat successfully the disease.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, from the home at 2 o'clock and from the German Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. A. Bartz officiated. The service was very largely attended, the church being filled to capacity.
Wreaths and bouquets of flowers in great profusion banked around the casket attested to the many close friendships of this well-known resident.
Mr. Aberle was born in Wurtenburg, Germany, October 17, 1848. He came to America in 1872 and settled in Wisconsin where he remained for a short time. Later he moved to Alexandria, where remained until his death. Here he was married to Christina Hess, August 13, 1889.
When Mr. Aberle first came to Alexandria, he entered into the grocery business with his brother on the site now occupied by the Motor Inn. Some years later he established himself in the brewery business then later in the harness business.
Mr. Aberle was the father of nine children, eight of whom are living. Mrs. McCabe of St. Paul, Clara Aberle of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Ward Bued of Woodworth, N. Dak., Ray Aberle of Woodworth, N. Dak., Rebecca Aberle of St. Paul, Fred Aberle of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Phil J. Noonan and Flora Aberle, both of this city (Alexandria).
All of the children were at home for the funeral except Fred, who was unable to attend because of illness in his family.
The pallbearers were Matt Haberer, Andrew Roth, John Roth, Joe Zeller, Andrew Seeger and Robert Kronfeldt.
The friends and relatives from out of town who were present were : Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Bender, Fergus Falls; Mr. A. Hess, Park Rapids, Minn.; Mr. W. Woessner, Mr. A. Woessner, and ? Zeller all of Elbow Lake; and Mr. O. J. Bued of Woodworth, N. Dak.
Interment was made in the Kinkead Cemetery.
